USING CREATIVITY ACTIVITIES

Introduction
“ Being creative is seeing the same thing as everybody else, but thinking of something different” e.g. Guttenberg took the wine press and the die/punch and produced a printing press

Creativity is also the action of combining previously unconnected elements together…

Creativity is the ability to generate novel and useful ideas and solutions to everyday problems and challenges

So why use creativity techniques?
• They help you to generate ‘new’, fresh ideas
• Can provide a fresh perspective
• Enable you to share and build on other people’s ideas
• They also encourage new ways of thinking - which we need to move towards sustainability

Creativity and Sustainability
“ You can’t solve problems with the same thinking that created them. ” Albert Einstein

We need creative solutions to think beyond current unsustainable activities

We need people who are:
• creative
• intuitive
• spatial thinkers
• pattern seekers
• communicators

Sustainability, at its core, requires a change in thinking and a change in behaviour

What are creativity techniques?
Creativity techniques encourage us to think differently about problems and encourage new ways of thinking

Two rules of creativity
1.Do not criticise other peoples ideas
2.Suspend your judgement - do not criticise your own ideas
